Book Review: Amchigele Delights: from the Kitchens of Nayak

I was excited to see the cover on the book and the first few pages are very well done with details on the authors and includes a foreword by Celebrity Chef Vikas Khanna. The fact that the book is dedicate to the memory of the author’s grandmother makes it more personal. As I read through the Index, the recipe names brought back fond memories especially some rare delicacies like mushti polo, surnalli and gud gud alambe ambat.

The book however could have done with some attention to details. The instructions for some of the recipes do not have the ingredients from the list. The instructions kind of assumes certain level of cooking expertise.

Adding some good quality pictures throughout the book would have taken the book to the next level.

My final word: I will not recommend purchasing the current version of the book. But with lots of solid content already in there,  I hope the authors bring out a revised edition.
