Sri Mahalasa Stavanashtakam (With Meaning)

Stavanashtakam literally means eight stanzas of praise. You might come across many popular stavanashtakams. As humans when we praise someone it is in expectation of favours, isn’t it? So, here is the Stavanashtakam for Devi Mahalasa describing her glory and seeking her blessings and protection – the sanskrit words are used beautifully to make this song lyrical. I can assure you that once you hear this song, it will remain on your tongue for quite a while. Pahi Pahi Mahalase – protect me O Devi Mahalasa

पाहि पाहि महालसे गतलालसे सुखनालसे ।
मां सदा करुणान्विते सुरसेविते कुलदेवते ।।

pāhi pāhi mahālase gatalālase sukhanālase ।
māṁ sadā karuṇānvite surasevite kuladevate ।।

O Devi Mahalasa, the one who is without expectations and who provides happiness (sukhnalase means the one who resides in the stem of the Lotus flower) O kind hearted Kuldevata served by the Gods always protect us.
